Scientific Interests »

Present scientific interests focus on growth and cell differentiation mechanisms including in particular differentiation of regular cells in selected physiological and pathological processes. The experiments which were carried out include research on proliferation activity, morphology, cytoskeleton structure, motility and extracellular communication in fibroblasts differentiating in myofibroblasts in the processes of wound healing and fibrotic diseases (e.g. astma). The investigation also concern mechanisms of regulation of endocytotic activity of cells, participation of actine cytoskeleton in the endocytosis process and the impact of selected medicines with clinical application (e.g. local anaesthetics) on changes in the morphology and function of regular and carcinoma cells. Together with the Department of Pharmacognosy of the Medical College of the Jagiellonian University, a cycle of research on the impact of newly isolated plant saponins (e.g. LTS-4) on the growth and differentiation of animal cells is carried out.
